The mission of the Kansas Poison Center is to provide the people and healthcare providers of Kansas with high-quality education, information and assistance to optimize treatment, prevention and surveillance of poisonings and overdoses.
Our services include:
- Poison exposure triage and treatment recommendations via telephone
- Poison-related information questions via telephone
- Professional education
- Public education
- Research and data collection
The Kansas Poison Center receives a variety of poisoning-related calls, which include:
- Dermal, ocular, ingestion, inhalation and injection poison exposures
- Drug overdoses
- Medication mistakes
- Chemical exposures at work
- Toxic gas or fumes
- Pet poisonings
- Plant poisonings
- Food poisonings
- Animal and insect bites or stings
- And anything else that is toxic to the body
